20 Dec Large patio and planting in Shenfield – Final part

This is the last of 3 parts about a large patio and planting area we built built in Hutton Mount near Shenfield, Essex. The terrace area is now complete. The Buxus Sempervirens forms a nice boundary between the patio and the large existing lawn. Small and medium perennial plants have been planted to provide colour and a little height in the spring and summer. The paving we used is Stonemarket Vintage Stone Frost and Vintage Stone Frost cobbles. This is a limestone which is hard wearing and easily cleaned.

Using the cobbles between the two patios is a good way to define the pathway from the patio. Copper Hunza Deck lights have been used near the steps to give a gentle wash of light across the paving and highlight the locations of the steps.
